Over $105,474,150,000.00 for ten years! For 1st Offense. As of 2005 the period for prior DUI offenses is 10 years. Regardless of when a prior DUI offense occurred, and what the DUI law was at the time, if it was within ten years it counts as a prior DUI offense. MADD Estimates DUI cost and has a break down of it. The news has been full of "Bubble Popping" lately, there was the "Credit Card Bubble", the "Mortgage Bubble", the "Student Loan Bubble" and now "The MADD Bubble" is about to burst.
During this time of our government on the brink of bankruptcy look what MADD did, still based upon lies! We have homeless in the streets, business's closing down, Student loans astronomical, our government getting a bad credit rating, can't balance a budget, joblessness a desperate situation. BUT MADD gets what it wants plus MORE. Today Sept. 23, 2011, just released. MADD got what they wanted $6.M for research, research into how to put DADSS (Driver Alcohol Detection System for Safety) into your vehicle! Senate is cutting everything else but giving MADD More? What is really going on there? More money for Police Powers over you and me… the DADSS will also probably have a tracking device!
Why should the MADD Bubble begin to burst? The MADD bubble was based upon the same guide lines, corruption and graft that the other bubbles were based upon. It is a self feeding monster that will eat its own tail, just as the others have, but not without untold damage to people and their lives first, just as the other "bubbles" caused.
The MADD Bubble is already leaking, and it is a major leak, the stats that they have used for decades are all lies! MADDs best buddy NHTSA is coming clean and admitting that there has been an "error" in the reporting of DUI stats, they claim back to 1999, but they changed the stats further back than that! My records show back to 1995 at least!
Of course they didn’t put the admission right out there on the front page, or tell the Media or probably any legislators, but they did admit it, on the FARS FTP site of FARS/NHTSA. There is a copy of this doc. below, in case you can't open it.
How else do I know? Because I, as well as many others have told them their stats were wrong way back in 1997-98 and continuously since. More on that below.
NHTSA admitting an “ERROR” is a miracle in itself, that any part of the truth would finally be revealed. It wasn’t intended to happen by any means! IF Hurley had taken the job I doubt very seriously any kind of admission would have ever been made.
On April 08, 2009 if you will recall Pres. Obama made the choice of a new Administrator of NHTSA and he was: Charles Hurley. Hurley was the CEO of MADD at that time and had been since 2005. Hurley also had a 30 year professional career and had Senior positions with the National Safety Council and The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (very convenient for auto insurance rates and who pays the highest!) Those that were “delighted” by this nomination: The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) who had worked closely with him for 20 years while he was with Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and MADD. BUT Hurley withdrew from consideration in May, 2009. WHY? He had it all set up great. He could still do the MADD agenda, he could still help out his Auto insurance buddies with higher rates for DUI offenders. He would have had it made, so why would he decline without comment? Why didn’t MADD have a comment? Lies that were all faithfully quoted as words from the GODS NHTSA/FARS/MADD? How do those Legislators, President, V.Pres., etc., all look now? Like incompetent fools, who could not even check the facts before spouting them off? You bet, they became part of the lie!
We as a nation I feel were saved to some degree, when another Administrator was appointed to NHTSA. In Jan. 2010, David Strickland was sworn in and I commend him on doing the following, I’m glad to see an attempt to clean up the MADD and NHTSA/FARS mess and get the truth out to the public finally, a small start, but a start none the less.
On March 27, 2010 the following was posted on the NHTSA FARS FTP website: Quote from that “Drunk_dr correction.docx”
“We have discovered a problem with a derived variable on the Accident /Crash file. The DRUNK_DR element on the ACCIDENT level has been incorrectly derived since 1999. Since then, it was derived based on all person types rather than based on Drivers only. Furthermore, the variable name (DRUNK_DR) implies that the individual was drunk, however, it actually captures those individuals whom the police reported alcohol involvement OR who tested positive for alcohol (i.e. their blood alcohol concentration was .01 g/dL or greater). Please note that beginning with the 2008 Final file, which will be released in the summer of 2010, DRUNK_DR will be derived for Drivers only. If you will notice, MADD has not been citing any of the stats like they use to, their web pages use to be covered in stats, by the states, years, etc.. Now they look like a billboard for auto insurance and begging for money… where are all those FAMOUS Stats that were so sensational, that showed the public the “slaughter” on the roads,
as quoted by Supreme Court Chief Justice Rehnquist, when he wrote the courts opinion on the exception to our constitution in DUI roadblocks Decided: June 14, 1990 “No one can seriously dispute the magnitude of the drunken driving problem or the States’ interest in eradicating it. Media reports of alcohol-related death and mutilation on the Nation’s roads are legion. The anecdotal is confirmed by the statistical. “Drunk drivers cause an annual death toll of over 25,000[]…. (“The increasing slaughter on our highways . . . now reaches the astounding figures only heard of on the battlefield”).
HUM, “Drunk drivers cause an annual death toll of over 25,000” Annual must have been prior to which year? According to NHTSA/FARS 10/10 stats, the highest was in 1982 @ 21,113, so how can 25,000 be confirmed by the the statistics? For the two years before this “opinion” 1988 had 18,611 and 1989 had 17,521, just a little more “MADD Magic Math” by our Supreme Court Chief Justices?
Does it bother you that such a grave decision should be based upon lies? False Stats? Would the decision been different IF the truth were known? Where is the retrial? How do the millions that have had their lives forever altered by this decision get justice?
Why would MADD throw those “stat” money makers away and not post them prominently on their websites anymore? Maybe they knew that the game was over, coming to an end, they would be found out, the rats have jumped ship, only the scapegoats remain. These masters of deceit make "Enron" look like babies! MADD April 1997 WOW some really scary stats on there, enough to scare anyone into passing stronger legislation….IF they were true.
"1996 Drivers with BAC .08+ are 12,348 and 22% from a total of 57,001 drivers. The difference was 4,926 more Drivers reported by MADD and 18.7% added to the percentages, almost doubled! The true figures/stats would NOT have gotten MADDs Agenda fulfilled.
There have been some of us that have a long history of “questioning” MADD and NHTSA about their stats. In 1997-98 I was banned from the forums of MADD and NHTSA, after that several other people were accused of being “Judy” and were also banned! WHY? Because we ask about the stats! Nothing else, just ask about the stats! I could not understand why I was getting such a violent response to a valid, innocent question. “Why does NHTSA show different stats then MADD?”. When I say violent, I mean violent, they followed me onto my website where they insulted, harassed and said disgusting things to my customers/students in my free vermicompost lessons. They sent me threatening emails, one even called my home and threatened me and my daughter… SO why? They were running scared back then, because they already KNEW that they were lying! They were on the “defensive” from the very beginning.

The stats is what got MADD the “power” to get those hundreds or more of laws on the books, the funding, donations and grants from the taxpayers, so why would they just abandon them now, why give up a good thing? Because the stats are lies, and they are trying to sneak away from their responsibility of admitting it! They scream how drinking drivers should be held Responsible/Accountable for their actions, so why don’t they do the same? Why don’t we have a “REAL” victim impact panel, with the REAL 15 MILLION plus Victims of these DUI LAWS based upon LIES? See how MADD likes THAT! Might do some good to drag the rest of the liars in there with them, too.
There are about 1.5 MILLION drivers per year, that have fallen victim to these laws based upon LIES. Their home, lives, families, jobs, careers have been endangered and destroyed by these lies. Did these drivers hurt anyone? NO. Did these drivers kill anyone? NO. Their only crime was being victimized by a corrupt system of MADDness that supports liars and their stats.
These drivers were victimized on what those stats showed they MIGHT do, not what they did do. Billions of dollars have been paid in fines, attorney fees, all other fees, DUI schools, etc. Billions of dollars into a select few pockets, this money could have helped offset our economic problem, it could have been used to stimulate jobs, small business and our economy, but instead it was hi-jacked by MADD by using "extortion by Judicial process" as the tool of choice.
SHAME ON YOU MADD, child molesters roamed the streets freely while you told your lies, innocent victims are the shame you will carry as your bubble fizzles out… good riddance, we don't need organizations with hatred in their hearts dictating to our congress, courts, media or law enforcement…
From past experience I have learned a few things about this subject matter: It is controversial, emotions run deep, the process of death has been exploited into a victimization of the innocent. If a person states: My mom got killed by a texting driver, its no big deal. Or a speeding driver, or a drowsy driver, or a driver doing anything else. But the magic words "Drunk Driver" gets a big elitist response. Is it any wonder that everyone claims a "drunk driver" killed a loved one, instead of the truth (Uncle Bob dozed off and crossed over the line). It is mathematically impossible for everyone to have a loved one killed by drunk driver. Next time someone says that, investigate the claim, cops are famous for stating all the "horrific" DUI crashes they work, a quick check of the county stats will show they had to work all of them plus a few more to get those numbers… what was everyone else in the department doing? Ask them for time, date and location… they can NOT tell you! There are those that believe the media hype and really believe that there is a "drunk driver" hiding around every corner just waiting to get them! Let me show you a few stats that show that is NOT the case. For 2009 NHTSA/FARS reported that there were 10,102 Drivers with a BAC .08+ out of 45,230 total drivers involved in fatal crashes in 50 states plus DC. 7,281 of those 10,102 drivers were themselves killed. 2007 CDC fast facts reports Suicides in USA. Number of deaths: 34,598. Almost 3 times more likely to kill yourself than get killed by Drunk driver! CDC also shows for 2007 Deaths from firearms deaths: 12,632. You are more likely to get killed by getting shot than by a drunk driver! CDC also shows for 2007 Deaths from Cancer 562,875. How much more likely is it that cancer will kill you versus a drunk driver? IF MADD really is "trying to save lives" I would think that this might be a good place to start, instead of depleting our resources the way they do. IN fact CDC shows the ten top causes of death and Drunk Drivers are NOT even on it!
Our US Census reports that 2009 there were 305 Million people in US and growing. With only 10,100 drunk drivers out to "KILL" everyone it might just take them awhile! Yes there are some Drunk Drivers that do kill people, just as there are people in every group that kill people. Just because a person drinks does not mean that they will be a better driver! Even piss poor drivers drink! Still really believe all that MADD media hype? Still see a drunk driver around every corner waiting to kill you? It is all an illusion created out of manufactured stats that are lies, and have been lies for decades. YES, I do have proof, NHTSA Admitted it, with their Correction of Drunk Driver doc… Before we even get started I want to say: I do NOT in anyway, shape or form condone driving while intoxicated. I do NOT condone drugs of any kind or their usage. So, if you are a MADD mother, have been brain washed into believing the Media hype or for any other reason choose to have a closed mind, you can save any/all of your irate media hyped spiel for someone else, the whole point is that the American people have been hand fed a line of crap, which with the help of the Media they have swallowed hook, line and sinker. The History of MADD and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and their lying Stats.
This history will Not be the glorified edition that MADD so proudly proclaims, it will be part of the true story of their lies, contempt for our Legislators, Presidents, Vice Presidents and even our Supreme Court Justice System. Including of course their contempt for the American taxpayers, Media, Judicial system and Law enforcement.
This History will be about how MADD and NHTSA lied to get DUI laws on the books to promote their own agenda. That agenda was NOT in my opinion to reduce Drunk Driving Crashes, that agenda instead was to put into place a police power that would make “exceptions to the U.S. Constitution” a common practice and extort gross amounts of money from those that fall victim to these laws, (laws that are based on lies) and to further erode our diminishing rights. That agenda was also, to enrich and pacify their buddies who would stand to gain the most money and power.
- Received Federal Grants, over $14.4M. Taxpayer MONEY going to MADD, for what? Helping to promote a police state?
The total amount of money made on DUI arrests is astronomical, it is undoubtedly the highest paying of “crimes” for the Local selective few, State and their buddies, NHTSA/FARS -Federal gov. (they get the funding from taxpayers money to generate these false stats and protect them from detection!) MADD and all the DUI schools, attorneys, Public defenders, etc…
Some contend that MADD, NHTSA, the Auto insurance industry’s agenda was prohibition, I don’t think so, IF everyone quit drinking they would be out of business. They would have cut their own financial throats. It was far more sinister than that, it was evil in intent, it was based upon lies, lies that were knowingly repeated, lies that an entire system of corruption were based upon. It is without question the biggest, most shameful abuse of power ever exhibited by our government, in my opinion!
There are some things that have gone on for decades that are not Right in my opinion, that need to be exposed for what they are and to be rectified if possible. I will share my observations, research, opinions, comments and whatever else I got about it here.

With that being said, venture forth into some new territory that perhaps you have NOT seen on your local news station, read about in the headlines, thought about or even been aware of…territory that has stayed below the radar of the media, but is none the less very sinister in its implications and long range repercussions.
